You are lost in an endless twilight broken only by whispers of want and fervor. You crawl and mutter within your shriveled dearth of existence. Shade has mangled the air and everything it touches. It has consumed much of who you are. You have become a hollow being in a hollow world. But there’s something ahead. It has been speaking to you past the silence and pain. It is close. And then . . .
 

You see it, standing tall in the nothing: a Tree.

 

You suddenly remember . . . the warmth of life. The desire to change. A sense of peace. You see them all so clearly now, right before you—Fruits littering the dirt. You need one. Just one. You’re sure of it . . . that you can finally become whole again. 

 

Wait. 

 

There are others . . .  wandering toward what you need. Where did they come from? There isn’t enough for everyone—is there? You panic. You fear. You rage. And with those feelings comes something more. Something from a forgotten past—the dregs of your old self—bubbling to the surface. The hands stop consuming and drag you to your feet, watching you. Waiting for you. Could this be who you really are . . . what you wanted all along? You can feel it, yearning for something you had forgotten. A dark desire.

 

Will you seek to become whole? Or will you satiate the dark desire from deep within?
